My Profile Anatomy
Did you know that the My Profile tab on your dashboard is the brain of your account, and keeps track of all your important personal data? Here's a brief look at what you'll find here.Click here to open your profile tab in a new window and follow along.
PERSONAL INFO
Name: this is your real name, which is what we'll use to identify you when corresponding with you personally. It does not show up anywhere on your lenses.
Screen Name: this is the user name you will use to log in to your account and what you'll be known as on Squidoo and SquidU. It also defines your lensmaster page, where all your lenses are listed.
Default Photo: this photo will show up on your lenses and lensmaster page.
Default Bio: this is the about you blurb that will automatically show up on new lenses until you change it.
ACCOUNT SETTINGS
Email Address: it is very important that you keep this address up to date. This is where all your email notifications and newsletters will go. If this address doesn't work, or Squidoo.com isn't on your whitelist, we can't notify you of problems or opportunities regarding your account.
Password: changing your password regularly can keep your account secure. Here's where to do it.
Safe Browsing: everyone has their own comfort level with what type of lenses they wish to see. If you select G, only G-rated lenses will show up when you search. If you select R, you'll see G and R rated lenses, and if you select X, all lenses will be visible to you.
Share My Favorites: turning this on allows other users to see which lenses are your favorites.
Open external links in new window: by turning this on, links to URLs outside Squidoo will open in a new tab or window (depending on your browser) so you can stay on Squidoo and keep surfing!
Account Status: in most users this should read "active." If for whatever reason you need to delete your account, you can do it by going here and clicking "change." Of course, by keeping your account, even if you don't have lenses, you can still rate lenses, participate in SquidU, and leave messages in guestbooks.
PAYMENT SETTINGS
Your PayPal email address, if different (optional): this is another important setting! If your PayPal address is different than the one we contact you at for general correspondence, you must add it here in order to make sure your payments are going to the right place.
Global Payment Settings: this allows you to send all your earnings to the charity of your choice, or to your PayPal address for a little extra cash, or split it up and everyone wins!
Cash Payout Threshold: you get to decide when you get paid. Don't want to deal with a few dollars here and there? You can change the setting to only pay you when your cash balance reaches a higher amount. Don't worry, we'll save it up for you until then. (Note: the default on this is $10, so if you have a few bucks in your reserve after payday, this may need to be changed.)
Allow contact? this function allows visitors to send you personal notes through Squidoo. You'll get them directly as an email from Squidoo, and your email address and real name won't be shown to the reader unless you decide to reply to them.
Zonks! The Learning Library is being closed and remodeled. Keep an eye out for the new and helpful front door that will be replacing it soon!
