*The Forum Rules.
Yep, rules. Read 'em. Abide by 'em. Or your sea creature powers may be revoked. Temporarily, or for good.
1. New to the lounge? Get started here. Learn which category to post your note in, and create a forum signature.
2. Spam: just don't do it. Thou also shalt not fill the forums with multiple threads on the same topic, sockpuppet, or link to irrelevant and non-Squidoo sites (includes signatures).
3. Thou shalt not flame, harass, denigrate, spam, malign, or otherwise finger-point and name-call at ANYONE. This one's a biggy. This too can get you banned.
4. Squidstaff love interacting with smart front-line people, so they stop by the forums from time to time to hear your ideas and share updates. However, this isn't the place to post bugs or solicit admin action. Please send those requests through our feedback link.
5. The SquidU forum is a place for users to interact, to share ideas and inspiration (and yes, gripes... maybe another lensmaster can help) and have fun with their lenses. Try searching for an answer or visiting The Answer Deck.
Just started getting a small but steady stream of Google traffic to a few of my lenses!
It's not much yet, but it's nice to know I'm doing something right. This feels like passing a milestone for me!

Good work.
It looks like all the hard work that the Squidoo staff and the lensmasters as a community put into the project over the winter and spring has begun to bear fruit.

Very cool! It's very satisfying to start seeing this happen.

I share your excitement. If you do a google search right now for "nursery themes for boys" you will find my little ol' lens as the very first search result! Yep, my Squidoo lens is ranked #1 with google.
Now if I could just learn enough about this SEO stuff to do that with my other lenses. ![]()

congratulations! I too have been Google hits, and have a lens that may make it into tier two this month (hopefully)!

I remember the thrill I felt when my first lens got its first search engine hit (it started getting Yahoo traffic before it got any Google). Congratulations.

Well done, i know how you feel, a few of my lenses only started to get natural traffic about a week ago......and i loved it !

It depends on the lens, but I'm finding one can start getting Google traffic within the first day.
I always feel rather smugly victorious when I manage to goose Google to start sending my lens traffic before Squidoo has indexed it.
Squidoo adds your lens to the sitemap, and builds links to it through tags and categories, during the daily indexing. Once Squidoo has done that, the Google spiders that crawl Squidoo fairly often should see your lens. Announcing your lens through other channels, especially a frequently-maintained blog, can catch Google's attention even before the daily indexing.
But of course, the goal to strive for is to keep getting traffic. At least once you've started getting traffic, you know you're on the right track!

Take the 30 Day Challenge to learn more about that SEO stuff, it's a fantastic 30 day learning experience ![]()

Thanks everyone for sharing this moment with me!
What is the 30-day challenge, prosperity66? I'd like to learn a bit about SEO, it seems like the best way to get consistent traffic.

The 30 Day Challenge is a 30 day online course run by Ed Dale and a few other marketers who teach you how to set up a site and how to market it.
You can get free online training, videos, etc. to help you make your first $10 online. Here's the link: http://www.challenge.co/
I followed their course 4 years ago and was really happy to learn everything I needed to make my sites successful online - just have to apply all of this on my lenses but the reward is not always worth the hassle especially when you run several personal sites in the background.
30 DC is definitely a great way to start working online.
