Yep, rules. Read 'em. Abide by 'em. Or your sea creature powers may be revoked. Temporarily, or for good.

2. Spam: just don't do it. Thou also shalt not fill the forums with multiple threads on the same topic, sockpuppet, or link to irrelevant and non-Squidoo sites (includes signatures).
3. Thou shalt not flame, harass, denigrate, spam, malign, or otherwise finger-point and name-call at ANYONE. This one's a biggy. This too can get you banned.
4. Squidstaff love interacting with smart front-line people, so they stop by the forums from time to time to hear your ideas and share updates. However, this isn't the place to post bugs or solicit admin action. Please send those requests through our feedback link.
5. The SquidU forum is a place for users to interact, to share ideas and inspiration (and yes, gripes... maybe another lensmaster can help) and have fun with their lenses. Try searching for an answer or visiting The Answer Deck.

By the way thefluffanutta, it seems SquidUtils gives me an empty feed when I use this tool: http://squidutils.com/cb-feed.php
Yes, I noticed that too. I'm looking into to it now...
Edit: Okay, fixed it now
Thanks ![]()
I plan to add at least one Amazon widget to every lens since that sidebar space is usually unused. I do wonder if that won't make my lenses look heavy on the ads however.
Are there any plans for a HTML/Text widget?

I just voted for that in the Widget Wishlist poll here: http://www.squidoo.com/sidebar-widgets

Hi guys,
The lack of intro text isn't a bug, other than we simply haven't removed the intro text area from the workshop editor. We feel these widgets should be lean and mean. Blake has already gotten rid of that field on our staging server, so that should be rolled out later.
As for the number of widgets we're allowing -- that could very easily change in the future.
Glad you guys like them!

LOVE THEM .........love them ........... love them.....

Okay, I've had a chance to add a few. I love them. However, There's still an awful lot of empty space down the right-hand side so why are we limited to only three modules? Any chance we can have, oooh.. six?
Bev,
I wasn't sure if you meant we were only allowed 3 links in the module itself.
I needed six for this particular lens, so added two modules, with 3 in each

Is that what you meant? Does that help?

Hello,
No... we can only use three actual modules, i.e. two Amazon Spotlights and one Featured Lenses for example. I've got several long lenses which would benefit from having the Amazon Spotlights moved from the body of the lens to the sidebar so it would be nice to have more available.
But thanks anyway ![]()
Bev
PS One of the lenses I added the Spotlights to has already had a sale this evening... so they do work beautifully.

Love them a lot!
Also, for my niche ones, I'm taking my lenses out of the discovery module and moving them to the Featured lens widget
Especially as a lot of them doubled up or where out of date.

can we have the amazon star ratings included please. I've experimented with them on and off and I think it helps if they're on

Does any one know when this will be available to the general public? I understand only Giant Squids have them at the moment.

No idea, but if they prove to be successful, HQ might release it to all soon...

I'm liking it, just tried it out on some lenses. Looks great!

The only thing I don't like is that they appear at the TOP of the Table of Contents, although I suppose that may be because I added them first on my newest lens. I'll have to keep playing with them. I don't necessarily want to further "Amazonize" my lenses but I love the idea of featuring more lenses and filling in some of that dead sidebar space.

I like the new widgets, its a great way to update lenses and fill in that space. ~ Thank you Squidoo!

It just occurred to me what I would really love to have as a widget - our Twitter Follow. It takes up a lot of space on the lens and is easy for the eye to skip over as it scans down to more colorful or important information, but as a little widget on the side it could either easily be ignored OR some little comment might catch someone eye and they'll follow...

Possible Bug: the sidebar widgets appear in the Contents at a Glance and Table of Contents.
I think this has been fixed - at least. I've been adding widgets, and they've not been appearing in the Contents at a Glance.

We'll be releasing Sidebar Widgets to all lensmasters later today. Thanks to the Giant Squids for the help testing and debugging.
I'm going to move this thread to the Official Announcements section shortly so that it can be the central source for community talk about Widgets as more people start using them.

Okay. Thread moved to Official Announcements. (Thanks to JeffryV for starting it originally).
And here's a blog post about the pending release. Feel free to share examples, insights, ideas with each other here.

Just wanted to check in after a week plus of using the sidebar Widgets.
Does anyone have any small success stories to share? An uptick in Amazon sales from the Spotlight Widget? More visits to lenses you put in the Featured Lenses Widget? Just curious if there are case studies worth knowing. Our ability to track clicks internally is pretty good, but real anecdotes are sometimes just as helpful.
Thanks!

Love, love, LOVE the widgets. I've been having fun trying out different configurations, and like theraggededge, shortening some of my longer lenses . No monetary success yet.
And I just discovered the Facebook Fan Box widget. I've been trying to add fan boxes to my lens, and not quite successfully.
It seems to be a little buggy, tho? Can't wait to add it to a lens. ![]()

I love the new widgets! Kudos to the Squidoo team! I've added them to quite a few of my lenses. It's an easy way to update those neglected lenses.

No, it doesn't seem to be working yet.
