*The Forum Rules.
Yep, rules. Read 'em. Abide by 'em. Or your sea creature powers may be revoked. Temporarily, or for good.
1. New to the lounge? Get started here. Learn which category to post your note in, and create a forum signature.
2. Spam: just don't do it. Thou also shalt not fill the forums with multiple threads on the same topic or sockpuppet.
3. Thou shalt not flame, harass, denigrate, spam, malign, or otherwise finger-point and name-call at ANYONE. This one's a biggy. This too can get you banned.
4. Squidstaff love interacting with smart front-line people, so they stop by the forums from time to time to hear your ideas and share updates. However, this isn't the place to post bugs or solicit admin action. Please send those requests through our feedback link.
5. The SquidU forum is a place for users to interact, to share ideas and inspiration (and yes, gripes... maybe another lensmaster can help) and have fun with their lenses. Try searching for an answer or visiting The Answer Deck.
Many lensmasters reported glitches with the guestbook, such as problems saving, issues deleting, and spam comments getting through. We've looked into them and fixed what we can find. To help us solve the rest, let us know which of these issues you're STILL experiencing.
1. the "save" bug has been completely fixed. If you're still having problems saving the guestbook module, please let us know
2. the guestbook module has been rearranged, and there are some new features! Learn more about using it, here: http://www.squidoo.com/guestbook-comments
3. remember that if you are logged into your account and post on your OWN guestbook, those comments will be automatically approved and display. You may still receive an email notification if your guestbook is set up to do so.
You can post bugs relating directly to these issues in this thread over the next few days.
(If you're experiencing a bug about a different issue, or are visiting this thread and it's over a week old, please send us a new bug report.)
Thanks!

I have an issue, not exactly sure it's a bug, I'd like clarified - if you reply to someone's comment - specifically - but they are not subscribed to the whole guestbook, shouldn't they still get a message? (I don't want to follow guestbooks on most lenses, but I would like to know if someone replies to me - which is what te follow option was for, originally, methinks!)

I haven't been able to reply to comments from within the module -- if I really want to say something, I have to just click 'comment' when I am outside the edit mode. That's not as good obviously. Is that a bug, or do I simply not know what I'm doing?

Karen, currently you need to be in "view lens" mode to reply to comments.
Flynn, I'll put it on the wishlist!

I agree completely. I was excited to see that we could subscribe to a Guestbook but most of the time I just want to receive an answer to my message. It also seems that it would help a lot with costumers who would like to ask about a product or just a way to get a good conversation going.

I'm unable to post comments in other lensmasters guestbooks --> have to reload the page several times before it does accept the comment (error message) and most of the time, the system keep displaying error message and no way to post comment. I submitted a bug report - didn't see this thread before.
Thanks for having opened this thread.
Dom.

I'm getting a problem that my options for the Guestbook do not save.
E.g. I don't want to receive emails that let me know there is a comment on my guestbook and yet clicking on the Do not send me emails option doesn't always work.
I usually like to approve comments but rather than receive emails (which I do not want) I've had to set it up to allow comments to go directly through without approval.

I too have had several issues with the GB accepting comments... error messages keep popping up, and if I am passionate to leave a comment I will go back and refresh. Most often that works, but very frustrating, especially if you have to do it several times. Most people will not stay on a lens and go through all that just to leave a comment.

Just totally failed to leave a comment. Tried to refresh several times. Still no joy. Definitely worse than before!
Can't believe that a guest reader would try this hard!

Today I have had mixed results when trying to leave comments in Guestbooks - some go through OK and others flag up a little error message with a "Squidoo orange" background telling me to refresh. I refresh and still am unable to leave a comment.

I've had some heads-up that people weren't able to leave a guest book comment in some guest books.

I had my first experience of not being able to post a comment in the Guestbook. Refreshed the page and was then okay ![]()

I'm still having random problems with posting comments. Sometimes they process normally, other times I get the fail notice and must refresh to gain success. Hope this is fixed soon. I hate to lose train of thought leaving a comment ... I'm starting to copy them before submitting, just in case.

Funny thing I found out was that I can post comments in Guestbooks when I'm using Firefox, but not Chrome!
Sorry to all the lenses I failed to post comments in while browsing happily in Chrome.

Just had the same experience. Tried repeatedly using chrome and wasn't getting anywhere. IE users are also mentioning the problem.
Installed Firefox and it worked first time. This does suggest a compatibility problem with some of the other major browsers, we need a fix.
