SQUIDU FORUM RULES
1. New to the Lensmaster Lounge? Introduce yourself. Share a little bit about who you are, and talk about what kinds of lenses you're creating over on Squidoo.
2. Your SquidU username is the same as your Squidoo username. Anything you say or do here reflects on your reputation, well, everywhere.

4. Feel free to post a comment in any discussion. Think twice and take a deep breath before posting something if you're angry.
5. Before starting a new discussion, please check recent discussions to make sure you're not posting on a redundant topic.
6. This is not an officially-run Squidoo forum. This isn't the place to post bug reports or solicit admin action from Squidoo officials. This is a place for lensmasters, run by volunteer lensmasters, organized to help you meet other lensmasters and get and share help about making Squidoo lenses.
Bonus: This is a community, just like the neighborhood you belong to offline. Day in and day out you'll likely run in to the same faces, the same people, and many diverse opinions. It's up to you to help make it a place you enjoy coming back to, by participating in discussions you enjoy and interacting with the people you respect.

Updates big and small: from SquidHQ
Lot and lots of things happening this week!
I wanted to take a few minutes to outline some of the new projects we have coming your way, as well as address an important concern.
1. First: We've taken a little of what we've learned from Rocketmoms, merged it with feedback from Giants, and have created an 8-week Masters class just for Giant Squids. http://www.squidoo.com/giant-squids-sig … er-school. Starts this Friday, so if you're a Giant and haven't seen it yet, check it out! And if you're not a Giant... remember, June 31st is the deadline to apply: http://www.squidoo.com/giantsquids.
2. Next: On Friday we're releasing our new max lens style, along with SQUIDTHEMES. Finally, a much-requested feature that lets you select from a handful of different color templates for your lenses. Many thanks to the dozen or so lensmasters who tested out the new lens themes for us. And unless they were just being nice, I think it's fair to say you guys will love having a little more control over the look and feel of your lenses.
3. I want to give you a heads up about the "display ads" from Glam media that we're currently running on lenses. Due to a few different factors (Yahoo traffic, aggregate lens performance, contract with Glam) our overall revenue from Glam ads is down. Which means the total ad pool is down too. This most recent payday is the first you might have noticed the crunch -- and I know some of you have. On the upside, here at SquidHQ we are looking at new advertising options. That in itself can be scary... no one likes ads on their lenses to begin with; but no one likes when money goes down, either. Anyway, I wanted to let you know we're exploring options, and that we'll keep you posted.
4. As the Yahoo team promised us, their glitch has been fixed and traffic from Yahoo has been going back up, week on week. It's slow going, but it's going. A good thing.

I think we have all noticed the lag in traffic, but its good to know you are constantly working to make Squidoo better for us all. I like the new interactive ads on the lenses, they almost make me want to click on them! (I don't, of course). With Yahoo traffic steadily rising, I think we will all begin to reap the benefits in the coming months, and I'm just grateful to you all at Squidoo Headquarters for your support, response, and interaction, not to mention this free venue!

Thanks for all the optimism! It's contagious, and makes good things happen.
Oh and thanks to a little bird who pays more attention than I do: There are only 30 days in June. Therefore the deadline to apply as a Giant Squid is June 30th, not 31st. I should stop trying to create some kind of leap year effect here, I think.

will you be doing anything about the lower payout problem that has occured to the lens masters that experienced the flawed visitor count. Your mistaken counter has cost your lensmasters money. When can we expect updates to our payouts so they are inline to the actual visitors we had during the time when your system stopped counting?

The new SquidThemes are AWESOME!! I think this is a major improvement that lensmasters and visitors will all benefit from. The themes are super easy to use and look very cool, yet very clean or organized. Thank you to those made it happen and all the hard work that must have gone into this project. I am really excited to start switching my lenses.
It's also great to see Yahoo traffic coming back! My top lenses were hit hard and are slowly getting back to where they were.

The themes are the bees knees! Exciting!
I'm putting my various topics into a theme of their own - my Roman lenses will be purple and my Scandinavian ones will be icy. Et cetera. Fabulous themes!
The new default is also gorgeous. Great to see the latest on the web again here in squidoo

It means they work so hard trying their best for all of us and put in long hours depriving them of decent rest periods. Then when they have done all this, everyone can get back to complaining and so the cycle repeats itself. Something like that anyway.

I think we all know that advertising is one of the sectors that has taken bit hit in these hard financial times but it's great to know that you are looking at ways to counteract the downturn.
All of the changes are really exciting and I'm looking forward to seeing them implemented.

Will take this Irishman a while to get around all this. Just had a gander and I like but will have to look more. So far haven't noticed how you can star a lens ( sighs ) going back.
