Workshop 2.0 is live

Happy Workshop Day!

Our overhauled workshop lens editor is alive and kicking and available to everyone.

Our goals with this were simple: a little more stability, a few shortcuts for lens editing, and a more WYSIWYG experience. Josh and Blake and Corey have been burning the midnight oil getting this revised workshop ready for you guys and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

How to use it? Easy. The next time you edit a lens, you should automatically find yourself in the new workshop. If you want to go back to the old workshop, just look in the upper left corner when you're editing a lens and click "back to old workshop."  Eventually we'll disable the old one (running 2 workshops just causes too many debugging issues) but to give you time to get your feet wet, we wanted to keep it around for a while.

The Angels have already played with this workshop and sent in valuable feedback, and we've been busy debugging. But as with any new feature, there might be something we've overlooked. Feel free to send any true bugs, with as much detail as you can, to our feedback page: http://www.squidoo.com/pages/feedback

General comments or observations, go ahead and post 'em here if you like! (No bugs here please, or we won't be able to process them quickly)

And one more thing: we have a list of a few more very cool features to add to this Workshop very soon, along with a whole new Module Picker. But we wanted to get this out the door first and go from there.

Megan

I was working on a lens and flipped back to the workshop and what do you know--brand new workshop.  Seems to work much faster so far.  Certainly is prettier.  You guys are the best!

Re: Workshop 2.0 is live

I just took a quick peek, and will have to play with it more to get used to it, but I really like it so far.  Looks much smoother and I think will reduce the times I had to click out to add modules or reorder.

Thank you to Josh and Blake and Corey who obviously worked very hard on this and of course the Angels who tested it for us!

Re: Workshop 2.0 is live

The new workshop is great!  I did submit a bug related (I think) to brand new lenses and the stats button up top not working.  I wonder if the in-depth module picker could be ajaxed as well eventually.  I like how the whole editing experience is on the one page, and picking a new module is still a separate page.

It's amazing! Woo!

Looks great. I love it.  Will you ever upgrade the groups' workshop to this too?

cschneid...
A new module picker is coming next.  We don't have a timeframe, but it will be an integral part of the workshop.

Re: Workshop 2.0 is live

Just FYI everyone. We've received a bug report regarding IE 7, the new workshop and some Cafepress modules. Apparently in some cases the workshop doesn't load completely. If you see this happen, please let us know, we're trying to sort it out as quickly as possible. Obviously if you open a lens in the new workshop and it's not right, don't save or publish it, just go back to the dashboard. Also, drop us a line and let us know which lens is not working correctly for you.

Thanks for all the positive comments and feedback!

Re: Workshop 2.0 is live

Love it, love it, LOVE IT!!!

The new workshop is user friendly and so much quicker.  Even saving each module is quicker.  I love the module being right there accessible on the right, and being able to rearrange them right there is fantastic!  I like the fact that you can check the health of a lens right there, and you can see all your module titles on the right so you know if you missed changing any.  (Note to users:  you need to save it as a draft before they change)

The only bug I've seen is in the link module when you hit the "Retrieve details for this URL" button, nothing happened on the two links I had.  I will put a report in on this, unless someone already has.

Thank you all so much for working so hard to make Squidoo better and better for the users...you guys are AWESOME!!!

Re: Workshop 2.0 is live

New workshop has a very nice look and feel to it, love not having to leave the work area to move modules around.

Another thing that I really like is the blue fields on the sides.

One question. Where do you go in the workshop to remove lensroll listings that you no longer want?

We just found and fixed the problem with the Cafepress module in the new workshop. That's been fixed and released. Let us know if there are any other issues with the new workshop.

Awesome! Fantastic!

I love the new workshop, it's a huge timesaver and so far I haven't seen any glitches.  I especially like the ease of moving the modules.  So simple.
