Help with "graphics" on lens??

Hey,

I'm not sure if graphics is the right term for this or not but this is what I want to do.

I want to put a picture copy of some results on Google AdWords for a "how-to" on one of my lenses, how would I go about doing this?

If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great....Thanks

Re: Help with "graphics" on lens??

You mean like a picture of a screen?

Look at the top of your keyboard, after F12. You should see a key called "PrtSc" , short for Print Screen. That key takes a screenshot and copies it in the memory banks. Then you paste it into an image program (paint, photoshop,etc..). Edit it, save it, w/e, here's your screenshot.

Re: Help with "graphics" on lens??

Let's say you want it in the middle between two paragraphs like

paragraph 1 text blah blah
      pic centered
paragraph 2 text blah blah

that code would be  :  <p align="center"><img src="Http:www.whatever.com"></p>
after your first paragraph...

lets say you want the text to wrap left or right of your image...

picture/image  ....This is the second paragraph with the associated pic to the left, blah blah, blah blah...

that code is:  <img src="http://www.whatever.com" align="left" hspace="10">       you can align either left or right, and the hspace command is so the text doesn't smash into your graphic... you can change the pixel width of that horizontal space command as you need...  or even add vspace="10"  which would be vertical space above and below your image...

learn these basic commands at http://www.squidoo.com/basichtml

learn very cool tricks at: http://www.squidoo.com/squidoo-css

If the image you want to use isn't already on the web someplace, you can use a free image host, like flickr.com or photobucket.com or shareapic.com... just upload your pic there and then save the url that they give you for it... naming your picture file with an appropriate keyword like 'googleadsensemoney' or whatever, will give you a tiny bit more google juice too.

Why not use use the polaroid module? You don't even need to use any code this way.

Re: Help with "graphics" on lens??

Thanks for the information Rocky!

How would I go about adding a screenshot I saved on my HOME computer in a word document?

I know at the bottom of the text module you can browse your home computer to get a picture but it shows up at the top of your lens, I would like it in the middle. Is there a way to add a picture from your home computer (saved as a jpeg in my picture file) in the middle of a lens??

I'm not sure if I'm making myself clear......hope someone can clarify.

Thanks

Re: Help with "graphics" on lens??

I have a question on this line also.  I have been trying to ad some animated images in the text part of my text/write module on one of my lenses but it is a ".gif" image and wont work.  I have tried NUMEROUS things and only got as far as a box showing up with the little X up in the corner (meaning the image didn't work)

How do I convert the gif image to html without paying a fortune for a program to convert it for me.

The ones from the http://www.flamingtext.com/ site work but they give me an html code to use.  But they mostly have text images or arrows, bullets etc---I want images pertinent to my lense.

This is one of the images I am trying convert and to post on my site it is from www.animationfactory.com

http://tinyurl.com/632ush
***I used www.tinyurl.com to shorten the loooong string that leads to the image---great site and its free.

They allow you to copy the image to certain forums etc like myspace<I tried that and it worked on my myspace> but Squidoo isnt one of them---wish the Powers that be here on Squidoo could contact them and ask to be added to their list to be allowed to copy to.

Thanks Sarah cool ((the first lense below is the one I want to add the above image to))

Re: Help with "graphics" on lens??

Hi 00gt00 :

If there's another way to do this, perhaps others will join the discussion, what I do is as follows:

This is the same process as before,  taking a 'screen shot'.    Open the word file to the size on your screen that you like....  then hit the print screen button, same as before ---> to the right of the F12 key on the top row...   your whole monitor is now saved as an image...

Now open any image program,  I use paint, cuz it's already on my computer and I'm cheap ;D.   Once that's open, I just hit paste... and my whole monitor screen image is pasted... then I go in and crop the image to show the information that I need... then I "save as" --- I save as whatever.png   png is a newer format for the web, but a jpg or jpeg is fine too.    I make sure to save the file someplace where I can remember (cuz I'm a goof and often forget where I put it.)

here's a tricky part -  squidoo's module width is max around 600pixels, so your image size shouldn't be wider than that... (I check in paint - image - attributes), if I need to, I resize the image accordingly, by same percentage both horiz. and vertical (image - resize).

Other people here will recommend other programs for image resizing too.. just find something that you think is easy...

Now I go to photobucket.com ( a free image host site - there are others)...  sign into my account,  then Upload the image that I want from my computer...  then photobucket has a button to give me the image html code or a direct url,  then I paste that into my lens...

Re: Help with "graphics" on lens??

Hi Sarah smile  Glad to have ya with us...

Squidoo does allow gif images and animation like that.. file formats can be: jpg, gif, png and tif too I think.... bitmaps or bmp are not accepted... most of the moving animation pics are gif files.

The little man with football image, is too big to use on squidoo.... (right click on the image, view properties - file size: 15,800k...  it would have to be resized to below 1000k    I have a gif at the bottom of kung fu panda, in my guestbook.

I dont know how to resize one of these...  if you'd make a new help topic with this question - someone else on the forum may know, there are tons of experts here (and I sure ain't one!)

Re: Help with "graphics" on lens??

Ooh ooh ooh me too, me too!!!  With an image question that is.  And heck while ya'll were on the subject I figured I would ask.  I am making my first attempt at adding an image within the text of a text module.  But alas, it didn't work.  So if someone could check out my link:
http://www.squidoo.com/chocolate_brown_lab under the module titled "The Spirit of This Chocolate Lab", about a 1/4 of the was down the image is simply a small X in a box.

I used flicker to upload some personal images.  Here is my html code:

<img src="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29631666@N03/2772483602/">

based on the page that shows when I bring the picture up on the screen.  I know I missed something.  Can you let me know what it is?  Thanks you so much for the help.

That's the link for the page, but not for the actual image. You need the link for the image itself.

Re: Help with "graphics" on lens??

Personally, I'd highly recommend ScreenPrint32 (Windows), since it gives you many options and is very easy to use.  You can download it from downloads.com and it's completely free.

I use it all the time at work and with my sites.  Very handy!
